Bar, MONTENEGRO, 13th August 2007, 2128 kms.
As the website wasn’t available in English until now, I haven’t written any articles and have to make up for delay. We have already completed 2128 kms -included 162 kms of ferry, 122 kms of hitchhiking and bus and 1824 kms pedaling- gone through Germany, Austria, Italia, Slovenia, Croatia and we are now in Montenegro. What we remember of this journey’s beginning is our slowness. Crossing the Alps was difficult to start our trip, as our trike with luggages weight about 70kg. Pedaling 70 kms per day in average is not so easy as we thought, but we spend all day on our bike, progressing sometimes at 5 kms/h in big ascents. But, in fact, the Alps weren’t the worst : each region we cross is quite mountainous and we are not left with sorrow. But all this is not so significant compared to the pleasure of traveling, admiring splendid landscapes, sleeping outside in wait of shooting stars, meeting people -what is more and more easy-. People in Montenegro are very hospitable and open. What is incredible is how they are curious about our strange vehicle and very likeable when they cheer us on. We didn’t think at all it would be like that.
